STATEMENT
	HOME NEW WORK COLLECTIONS MEMORIES IN RED DEAD END FLOWERS THE DAY NUMBERS SILVER PRINTS EXHIBITIONS / AWARDS PUBLICATIONS BIO CONTACT		Going back to work with film after 20 years interval was such a delight. I first started photographing in early 70s, in then Soviet Russia, and our prints, however interesting in composition, always lucked the technical qualities, such as deep blacks and contrasts, due to the poor qualities of the film, paper and chemicals. Good, or at least better, materials were distributed only through the state channels, and were available for official work orders, such as the newspapers' reports or the party leaders' portraits. Right now I am having a blast, immersing myself into photographing on film and making the silver gelatin prints. In the times when the traditional processes are dying, the dark rooms and photo service businesses are closing one after another, the magic of creating the silver gelatin prints continue to excite me. The digital equipment can wait a bit longer. BACK TO THE IMAGES
